Casual instructors are hired by the Department of Arts & Sciences to teach courses in times of high demand. As a casual instructor, you will be assigned full responsibilities for courses assigned to you (ie. preparing lessons, evaluating student progress, communicating with students and programs, etc.) over the course of the semester(s). Casual instruction in the Department of Arts & Sciences is not substitute teaching.

Posting is to create a casual list of Anatomy & Physiology instructors for Saskatoon Campus. Assignment is less than 29 occasions per year.

Job Duties
1. Provide instruction in anatomy and physiology to students enrolled in a variety of post-secondary health programs.
2. Facilitate the development, implementation, revision, and maintenance of Anatomy curriculum under the direction of the Program Head.
3. Practice good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
4. Plan and deliver content and learning activities that reflect the values, beliefs, needs, and contributions of a culturally diverse community.
5. Utilize LMS for in person, online, and blended course delivery.
6. Manage the classroom/lab/activities to ensure an optimal learning environment using an outcome-based approach.
7. Respond to and accommodate the special learning needs of students, including equity groups and diverse learners.
8. Use appropriate evaluation methods, record student progress, and provide feedback.
9. Make necessary curriculum adjustments to course content.
10. Follow academic regulations and policies adopted by Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
11. Work cooperatively with program heads and colleagues in an interdependent “team” environment.
12. Pursue professional development opportunities to keep current with industry and educational requirements.
13. Attend staff, program, and school meetings.


QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
1. Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Anatomy & Physiology in addition to a Master’s Degree in a related field.
2. Two years recent/relevant successful post-secondary teaching experience in applying the theories, practices and principles of adult education in the classroom/laboratory setting.
3. Effective communication skills (written and oral).
4. Effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
5. Effective instructional ability.
6. Ability to arrange, maintain, and evaluate resources.
7. Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, e-mail, MS Office Suite software and the ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.
8. Ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment.
9. Demonstrates valuing diversity.
